looking back on 2012

Happy New Year!!!
2012 was an absolutely incredible year in our lives. So, since today is the first day of a new year, I thought I would recap some of my favorite projects and life moments from last year.

January 2012
We bought our very first house on January 4th, and it's crazy to look back at this post, and see how far we've come.
My office was pretty much the first room that we got together, and I diy'd my desk that I love love love!
February 2012
After living in our house for a little bit, we adopted Roxy.  She is almost a year old now, and we just figured out that she is probably a Rhodesian Ridgeback-mix.  She is such a sweet girl, and is the perfect fit in our family.
As I was pretty new to the diy world, I bit off a bit more than I could chew in February with projects in our bedroom, closet, and bathroom.

March 2012
With just a few months until our wedding, my Mom and Friends threw me a bridal shower at our house. It was such a fun night, and I am so thankful for all the lovely ladies that were there.
Matt's parents flew in for the bridal shower, so we made it our goal to finish the guest room in time.  My favorite part of that room is the pink dresser I refurbished.  It is such a fun pop of color, and really completes the space.
April 2012
Easter weekend was so much fun! Roxy graduated from puppy class, and we spent Easter with my parents, brother, uncle, and aunt.
I continued work on my office in April, and painted a striped accent wall.

May 2012
May marked 1 year of being engaged, and we reminisced by looking through our engagement pictures, taken by the incredible Andy Sams.
The week of our wedding, I tackled my first reupholstering project (part 1 & part 2), and I love the way it turned out!

June 2012
June was by far the biggest month in 2012, for us! We got married!! Our wedding and honeymoon were both perfect!
Because June was so busy, we didn't do much when it comes to projects, but I did remove two of the cabinet doors to give the kitchen a more open-concept feel.  We plan to take down this cabinet and add shelving here.

July 2012
In July, I shared a ton of our wedding pictures with you, and I still look at them all the time. You can check out different parts of the wedding here:
I did a few small projects in July, including this little striped end table that is in the living room.

August 2012
My Aunt and Uncle were about to move down south, so we threw them a surprise baby shower before they left! It was so much fun, and they are adorable!
We also gave our bedroom a makeover, including this headboard that I diy'd for less than $30!

 September 2012
Our church celebrated its grand opening, and we made some crazy pancakes with the middle school and high school students.
We also started our largest paint job to date in the living room.

October 2012
During this month, Aden and Kiva visited us! It was so much fun to see them, and spend more time with our little niece.
Probably one of my favorites, if not my absolute favorite project in the house was the fireplace makeover we did.  For a project that only took a few hours, and cost only a small amount of money, it has made such a huge impact on our living room and the house as a whole.

November 2012
We hosted our very first Thanksgiving this year, and it was perfect! I made my first turkey, and served dinner on this Thanksgiving Tablescape.
This month was also incredibly busy for me, because I wrote my first blog series about simplifying your home, to live better.  You can check out all the days here.

 December 2012
To round out the year, we also had Christmas in our home for the very first time.  We celebrated with Matt's family on Christmas Day, and my family on the 30th. We also had an incredible time decorating this space for the first time.
Although, not a lot of non-Christmas projects were completed during December, we still managed to update the ugly cabinets in the laundry room, leaving them crisp and clean.
So there they are, my favorite moments from 2012 all wrapped up into one long post.  It was such a great year full of so many amazing milestones.  I am looking forward to seeing what 2013 has in store for us!
