Austin Trip

Last week was such a crazy whirlwind, I cannot even believe how fast it went.  Monday and Tuesday, I was at home, but then Wednesday-Friday I took a quick trip to Austin for business.  It was so beautiful when I was down there.  They have had so much rain and it was just green and lush and all the wild flowers were blooming.  It reminded me so much of why I fell in love with Austin years ago.

And, the best part about Austin in the spring is the blue bonnets. They are seeded in the medians and are just gorgeous.  I lived in Austin for three years, but two of them were complete droughts, so I've only gotten to see these beautiful flowers once before.

The skyline downtown is so beautiful as well.  I used to go running on the hike and bike trail right downtown by the river, and it was gorgeous everyday (even with all the powerlines)!

It was so wonderful to be in Austin again, I stayed with my future in-laws and seeing everything in the city reminded me so much of when Matthew and I fell in love, all my trips down there from Colorado, and of all the special memories from when we lived there.

Also, last week marks the end of March, so here are the last of my Photo Challenge Pictures:

Tuesday Happenings

It's Tuesday. Tuesday means Monday has passed (thank goodness), and we're one day closer to another weekend.  Today has been a little nuts. I've got a million projects going on at work, and I'm coming to the end of planning an event, so it's all the last minute details that I'm straightening out.  But, on my lunch break, I managed to get my picture taken for today and can post yesterday's as well.

March 26th - Key

March 27th - Your Name

Our wedding invitation! Well, this is both of our names, but it has my name on it!

In other wedding news, we received our first RSVP's today, and I found gifts for my lovely bridesmaids.  It's something practical and cute, and hopefully they will love.  I would love to get this gift, so crossing my fingers!

I'm heading out of town tomorrow until Friday, so I also have to pack, get my bangs trimmed (by my favorite hair stylist in the world!), and try to spend some time with Matthew before I leave.  Hopefully I will have time to get to everything! Have a great day!

Mini Re-Vamp

The look of my blog was driving me crazy! So, I enlisted the help of a designer (aka my dad) for some assistance with my logo.

What do you think? I love it! Check out his website: dMagy.com. Some of my favorites from his site are:

I am so happy to have updated a few things, and am much happier about the look and feel.  Thank you, Dad!

Wonderful Weekend

This weekend was so wonderful, I cannot even explain it.  Life has been so busy and pretty much non-stop since we moved back to Colorado, and especially since we moved into the house.

So, this was the first weekend to relax.  No projects, no commitments (except puppy class, of course), and it was great.  We started our weekend at puppy class, where Roxy is learning to come when called.  She's a little champ at the training class, but as soon as you get home she just stands there and looks at you.

We had brunch with my brother on Saturday at Janie's Cafe in Longmont.  It is a local place that has good ol' breakfast food. He's been super busy lately with school, work and he's currently in the production of "The Man Who Came to Dinner" at Longmont Theater Company, so it was nice to catch up with him.

It was a beautiful weekend in Northern Colorado, with temperatures right around 75 degrees. It was sunny on Saturday, so we took the opportunity to spend some time outside with the dogs.  They ran around like crazy, and we soaked up the sun using our new table and chair set (thanks to Matt's parents!).  It is so nice to have a place to enjoy our outdoor space, and we really appreciate it!

While we were on our weekly grocery shopping adventure, 10 stems of daffodils were on sale for $1.25, so I picked up two bundles to add some color to our world.

Roxy is getting so big!
Then on Sunday, we slept in (whoops!), so we made a quick grocery store/starbucks run for breakfast.  Luckily, I had a Starbucks gift card from a friend, so it was a nice, free treat!  And my photo challenge picture for Sunday was a perfect fit!

March 25th - Breakfast
Healthy, Right?
For the rest of Sunday it was overcast (which I love!), so we just relaxed and watched Bones (almost half way through season 4 on Netflix, and loving it!)  And I finished off the weekend making finishing touches on the first two products in my Etsy shop, updating the blog, adding a Facebook page for magenta and lime and uploading photos.

It was so nice to just relax with Matthew, and enjoy some time together without rushing from here to there.  Looking forward to a great week.

P.S. If you hadn't noticed, I completely forgot to do my Photo Challenge Picture for Friday Night - Moon. Fail.

Bridal Shower

Last Saturday, my Mom and Maid of Honor, Ashley, threw me the best bridal shower!  It was so wonderful to have my friends and family there (although, one of my bridesmaids couldn't be there, and she was so missed (Love you, Aden!))

It was so much fun.  We had a taco bar and the most amazing white cake with raspberry filling. I meant to take more pictures of the setup, but got so excited when everyone started showing up, that I forgot.
My mom brought me flowers.
Ashley and my Mom put up streamers! Too Cute!

One of my bridesmaids, Kathryn, also brought me flowers.

We also had Margaritas :)

Thinking Outside The Box

A few weeks ago, with big ideas on our minds for the guest room, we were having trouble deciding what to do about nightstands in that room. We wanted something functional, but not expensive since we are on a budget.

Then, one Saturday, we stumbled into the Restore and Matthew spotted this "beauty".

He convinced me that splitting this in two would create perfect nightstands, and for $10, I thought, why not!

So first we had to saw this baby in half (which we actually broke one of my Dad's saw blades, which I still owe him a replacement for (my bad, pop!)).

Then, since this wasn't flush at the top, we had to knock out the top to add a new side and top.

I will tell you that cutting this thing in half was not easy, so our lines were not even close to perfect.  So, we added a board to the side and top to try and even it out.

Matthew caulked in a few places that were not even.

After all of this, it wasn't quite perfect, so we went and picked up some 1/8 inch MDF for like $3 and attached them to the side and top for a better finish.  Of course, I forgot to take a picture (boo), but it worked so well!

Then, applied a few coats of Behr Cracked Pepper paint, which is a beautiful grey/slate color and voila!

This was such a fun project, and the cost came to less than $25 total for two nightstands! And, I kind of love that they aren't perfect.  Thank you to my wonderful fiance for thinking outside the box. :)

Peanut Butter Day

Happy Friday! Once a week (sometimes twice) I give the dogs peanut butter; some in the Kong, and some in half a tennis ball that Roxy fashioned. :)  Today is that lucky day for them!
Check out that peanut butter on her nose!
Totally content
Switch!
I love my dogs (if you hadn't noticed)! I'm looking forward to this weekend.  Going to do some relaxing, and probably work on some creations.  I'm working to get an Etsy store going, which is my newest venture.  Wish me luck!  Have a wonderful weekend!
