As you know, I just got back from a quick trip to Austin for business. Fortunately, my future in-laws live there and I got to spend a few days with them. Right before we moved back to Colorado last August, they moved into a new house. Since we were so busy right before we moved, we didn't get a chance to spend a lot of time in this house.
It was so fun to go back and see what they've done with it. Matthew's mom has very eclectic taste, and she has an amazing ability to make a space very homey, inviting, cozy, and her own. You know that eclectic-with-a lot-of found-items-look that we are all trying so hard to achieve? She is a master at this, and it comes to her so easily. Check out their home:
Austin has gotten a lot of rain this season (and it was raining while I was there), so their yard was so lush and green. Their entire yard and garden is so quaint.
For some reason, I just adore the look of this fence.
Crane made from Auto Parts, a yard sale find.
The moss on these steps is so gorgeous.
This is Latte.
I used to tease her for her use of windows where they wouldn't normally be (ie. hanging on a wall, on the porch, from a tree), but have really come to love this.
The inside of their house is just as cozy and eclectic.

See the younger of the two boys? That's my wonderful fiance as a baby :)
There's another shot of Matthew - cute blonde boy on the left.
How wonderful is that? I love how soft it all feels, but not in an overly feminine way. And, I honestly think that my MIL doesn't even think about it that much. It is second nature to her, and it comes with ease (at least she makes it look like it does).
