I cannot believe it, but the guest room was ready when my future in-laws arrived last night. It was a ton of work, but I am so happy and they love it too! My MIL called it a "haven", and that is exactly the response I was hoping for! But, before we go there, you need to see what it used to look like:
Check out this transformation!
We got this beautiful duvet at a 1-day sale at Ikea for $9.99!
Nice, big window!
I adore our little cozy window seat nook.
Nightstand project completed!
Love the closet door makeover.
Framed scrapbook paper is a simple and inexpensive decorating solution.
There's that Pink dresser!
Fresh flowers to greet our guests.
The picture in the frame is from Matthew's travels to Europe.
So nice to incorporate personal photos that way.
Notice how beautiful all the woodwork and doors are? They look so much better white! And, we spray painted the hardware bronze, which I am loving.
I also made the chevron art on the dresser. I didn't take pictures, but it was very simple. Basically just created a form from cardboard, marked my spots, taped with painters tape, painted the non-taped sections, and voila!
We are planning to make a headboard in the future, and I still want to make a window seat cushion and some throw pillows for the bed. This will also double as my craft room when we don't have guests, so on the wall opposite the bed, I am going to put a long narrow table for my sewing machine and a place for scrapbooking and other projects.
P.S. Did you notice the end tables? Check out what they came from...post to come...
